FAQ

How do I read a chord diagram?

Vertical lines are the strings (the 1st string on the right), horizontal lines are the frets. Dots show where to press, numbers are the fingers, × means mute and ○ means open.

My barre chords never ring out. Why?

Use the side of the index finger, press close to the fret, place the thumb behind the neck as a pivot, and pull slightly with the arm instead of squeezing hard.

What do the numbers mean?

1 = index, 2 = middle, 3 = ring, 4 = little finger.

Are these enough chords?

Open and 7th chords cover a huge amount of pop and folk music; barre chords let you play in any key.

Is the playback a real recording?

No, it is synthesised in real time by a plucked-string algorithm in your browser so you can hear the chord colour instantly.
